BCHS to present ‘DO TELL – Notable Women of Brown Co.’

NEW ULM — The Brown County Historical Society invites the public to attend ‘DO TELL – Notable Women of Brown County’ on Tuesday, March 24, at the New Ulm Country Club. Dinner is at 6 p.m., with program. Dress up like the poster “Gossip Girls” and qualify for a door prize drawing.

Learn about notable women of Brown County and enjoy humorous news from the past. Cameo appearances will include, Ida Stork Ozias a leader in WWI charity work and recipient of the German Red Cross; Marit Toftelien, a holistic healer from Hanska who relied upon her little black book of potions; Sister Nola Weiner an administrator at the Loretto Hospital during construction of a new 100-bed hospital; Raleigh Good, an owner and operator of the better woman’s clothing store in New Ulm in the 50s and 60s and Dr. Mary Ranson Strickler who practiced in the Sleepy Eye area in the early 1900s. The above women will be introduced by the notable Rosa Penning Schnobrich, founder of Schnobrichs Meat Market in New Ulm. Rosa will also share bits of gossip between each speaker.

The program is sponsored by Dan and Nancy Gislason in support of the Marjorie F Gislason Speaker Series and Women’s History Month.

The event is open to the public. Tickets must be purchased in advance; tickets will not be available at the door. Tickets can be purchased at the New Ulm Chamber of Commerce and at the Brown County Museum until the deadline, Friday, March 20. Tickets: $20.
