St. Paul’s wins MathCounts meet

NEW ULM — St. Paul’s Lutheran of New Ulm won the 24th Annual MathCounts meet of seventh and eighth-grade students at Leifeld Hall Tuesday with 38.75 points.

St. Paul’s team members are Joshua Carlovsky, Gavin Schaefer, who won the countdown round; John Balge and Bethany Spike.

Bird Island St. Mary’s finished second with 33.25 points. Miraya Ryberg of Bird Island St. Mary’s won the individual championship. Bethany Spike of St. Paul’s was second.

Ten schools took part in the meet, which provides students with practice ahead of the Feb. 10 chapter competition in Mankato.
