Agencies search Redwood River for teen

REDWOOD FALLS — The Redwood Falls Fire and Police Departments, Redwood County Sheriff’s Department and the Minnesota State Patrol are searching the Redwood River for a missing 16-year-old.

Police and fire department units were dispatched to the Redwood River near the 100 block of West Bridge Street. Several young people were swimming in the river when they reported one of the group, Thunder Wambade Brothersoffall, 16, of Redwood Falls, was caught in the current and swept away from the group.

A ground and air search including a Redwood County Sheriff’s Department drone and a Minnesota State Patrol air unit from the Twin Cities was initiated, but was unsuccessful at the time of the press release sent Sunday.

Members of the Redwood Falls Fire and Police Departments were stationed on the river Sunday night. A full ground and air search was scheduled to restart at 7 a.m. Monday, according to a Redwood Falls Police news release.

The Redwood River water is very high and moving very fast. The public is encouraged to stay away from the Redwood River banks in and near Ramsey Park.

Agencies in the search included the Redwood County Sheriff’s Department, North Ambulance, the Morton Fire Department and the Minnesota State Patrol.
