U. S. Dakota War commemoration program tours

NEW ULM — Two popular tours will be offered this weekend as part of the U. S. Dakota War Commemoration Programming. The walking tour of downtown New Ulm Dakota War sites and a guided tour of the Pioneer Section of the City Cemetery will provide insight into events related to the Dakota War.

The walking tour of U.S. Dakota War sites in downtown New Ulm will be on Saturday, August 24, at 2 p.m. The tour leaves from Brown County Historical Society Museum at 2 North Broadway, New Ulm. The tour guides will tell stories of Dakota War events that took place at the respective sites included in the tour.

Tours of the Pioneer Section of the New Ulm City Cemetery will be offered on Sunday, August 25, at 2:00 p.m. The tour starts at the cemetery maintenance building on Cemetery Avenue, New Ulm. Information will be shared about the settlers who lost their lives during the Dakota War and are buried in the pioneer cemetery.
