NEW ULM — Oak Hills Living Center residents waved American flags as dozens of Minnesota American Legion Riders rolled into New Ulm Saturday afternoon.

Riders from across Minnesota parked their motorcycles near the front of Oak Hills while on their Southern Minnesota tour to raise money for the American Legion Legacy Scholarship Fund.

In recent years, the Minnesota American Legion Riders have raised more than $1 million for the fund set up to help children attend higher education institutions after they are suddenly a single parent home since Sept. 11, 2001.

J’Lynn Berg of Hanska received The American Legion Legacy Scholarship Award for creating a number of paintings that were sold and raised more than $500 for the Legacy Scholarship Fund.

A number of American Legion Riders said they enjoy riding into New Ulm and getting a warm greeting at Oak Hills.
