Gag honor presented to BCHS Museum

Descendants of the Anton Gag family were in New Ulm on Saturday for the opening of a new exhibit ‘Art and Artists of Brown County: The Gag Family” at the Brown County Historical Society Museum. Norma (Dolly) Harms, whose late husband Gary was the grandson of local artist Anton Gag and the nephew of Wanda and Flavia Gag, presented the Museum with the Lifetime Achievement Award that Wanda Gag received in 2018 from the National Society of Illustrators for her work in children’s literature. The award will be on display at the museum during the year-long exhibit of the artwork of Anton, Wanda and Flavia Gag. Pictured above, from left, are Ryan Harren, collection curator at the museum, Dolly Harms, Darla Gebhard Research Librarian, and John and Lisa Harms. John is Dolly’s son. The Harms are all from Minneapolis.
