Popcorn wagon back

NEW ULM — The Brown County Historical Society’s popcorn wagon begins its 2019 season on June 1.

It will operate on Center Street in front of the Museum on ten dates throughout the summer and fall, including three dates in June.

On Saturday, June 1, the wagon will be open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. in conjunction with the opening of the Historical Society’s Prohibition Exhibit.

It will again operate on Monday, June 10, from 10 a.m. until 7 .m. in conjunction with the New Ulm Public Library’s kick-off to the children’s summer reading program. All children who sign up for the reading program at the library will receive a coupon for a free kid size bag of popcorn.

The third June date is Saturday, June 29 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. in conjunction with New Ulm’s Quiltistry event.

A part of local history since 1914, the wagon was purchased by the Brown County Historical Society in 2002 and restored to its original appearance. It is now operated by a team of volunteers with all proceeds from the sales of freshly popped corn and soft drinks benefitting the Historical Society’s mission and programs.

The Brown County Historical Society is located at 2 N. Broadway.
