Two to join diaconate for New Ulm Diocese

NEW ULM – Bishop John M. LeVoir will ordain two men to the transitional diaconate Saturday, June 1, during a 10 a.m. Mass at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm.

The next step for Shawn Polman and John Hayes will be their ordination to the priesthood, tentatively set for 2020.

The men, both 25, have discerned their vocations, taken on pastoral assignments, and will complete their seminary studies during the 2019-2020 school year at The Saint Paul Seminary in St. Paul.

The public is invited to the June 1 Mass.

Polman, 25, is the son of Ronald and Jean Polman of Cottonwood. His home parish is the Church of St. Mary, Cottonwood. He attended Lakeview Public School, Cottonwood (2008-2012), the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul (2012-2016), and the Saint Paul Seminary, St. Paul (2016-present)

John Hayes, 25, is the son of homas and Patricia Hayes of Lafayette. His home parish is Church of St. Gregory the Great, Lafayette

He attended Cathedral High School, New Ulm, (2008-2012), the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, (2012-2016). and the Saint Paul Seminary, St. Paul, (2016-present).
