Kevin Hoffmann, author and translator, discusses his English translation of the book “Trial and Triumph” Tuesday at New Ulm Public Library. Hoffman’s book tells the fictional story of a young couple planning to marry but are torn apart by the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862. Originally titled “Neu Ulm,” Hoffmann said he had interest in translating the book since his youth. He published “Trial and Triumph” in 2018.
