Hot Topics to focus on NU 2020 Community Visioning

NEW ULM — In 2016, over 100 New Ulm residents met for a day of prioritizing projects, issues, concerns and opportunities for the future of the community.

Fast forward to 2019. Four of the groups that were started that day have continued to meet, make progress, push forward and refine their purpose.

“Progress requires momentum, passion and champions and these groups are moving forward” New Ulm Chamber President Audra Shaneman said.

In March, there are two Hot Topics lunches to highlight the work of 3 of the 4 continuing community visioning groups. One was held on March 7, where updates were given on housing initiatives and workforce development. Video of these presentations can be viewed on the Chamber’s Facebook page.

The next one will be held on Friday, March 29, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the New Ulm New Ulm Country Club.

At this Hot Topics the Downtown Action Team will be the focus. This group has considered a variety of project and initiatives that impact the heart of our community. With downtown being the center where commerce, retail, local government and professional services intersect, what are the opportunities and challenges that need to be addressed? Come and meet the members of the group and help them move forward.

Lunch is $10 and payable at the door. Reservations required. Please RSVP to the Chamber at 507-233-4300 or chamber@newulm.com.
