Springfield Nativity time
The Springfield Area Nativity Theater Association (SANTA) comes to life this weekend at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 7 and 8, just east of the Springfield Area Community Center. Above, Edward Meidl of Springfield portrays a king with a gift during a Thursday rehearsal.
The SANTA choir that adds much to the production. Voted the best nativity pageant in Minnesota by WCCO TV viewers last year, the pageant features Joseph, Mary and baby Jesus in a live manger scene, real camels, dancing angels and is accessible to the disabled.

- On Friday, Nov. 30 Tom Cotterman (L) of Jasper\\ receives keys from Kenny Drexler of New Ulm to a van that Drexler donated through the Disabled American Veterans Donor Connect Program. Cotterman, an Army Veteran of the Gulf War who served in Somalia, is a single father of four and has recently been rescued from homeless status. The donation will help him carry his family to school, and Cotterman to work. Drexler who is an Army Veteran of the Vietnam Era was motivated by other recent donations to needy Veterans. He worked with Brown County Veterans Service Officer Greg Peterson to find a Veteran with family who needed transportation.

Santa’s Closet provides toys, hats and mittens and books to children in need at Christmas time.
