Compassionate Friends Worldwide Candle Lighting ceremony Sunday

NEW ULM — Compassionate Friends Worldwide Candle Lighting ceremony will be held on Sunday, Dec. 9, at 7 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 700 South Broadway, New Ulm. The candle lighting begins at 7 p.m. and continues until 8 p.m. You are also invited to attend a potluck which begins at 6

p.m.

The candle lighting is in memory of children who have died and we invite bereaved parents, siblings, grandparents, relatives and friends to join us. You may bring a special candle to light and pictures and remembrances if you would like to share them with others. We will also have candles available for those who need them. There will be an opportunity to make picture buttons so you are invited to bring a picture and we will make a button for you to wear or share.

The Compassionate Friends 22nd Annual Worldwide Candle Lighting will unite grieving families through an event that begins in New Zealand at 7 p.m. with candles lighting, followed by candles being lit around the globe as each time zone reaches 7 p.m. There were over 600 gatherings open to the public last year.

To contact the South Central Minnesota Chapter of the Compassionate Friends call Judy Kastman at 507-359-2727, Karen Johnson at 507- 387-7129 or e-mail Karen at rdjohns@hickorytech.net.
