Two votes the margin of victory in Sanborn mayoral vote

SANBORN — Voters elected John Schulte mayor of Sanborn by two votes Tuesday.

Schulte received 74 votes while Andrew Alan Larson got 72 votes, according to unofficial vote totals. There was one write-in.

Edward Cohrs and Mary J. Fennern were elected to city council posts with 85 votes. Following were Todd Weber with 55 votes and Nathan Roiger with 46 votes.

In Arlington, Jim Heiland and Michelle “Shelly” Battcher were elected to the city council with 546 and 504 votes respectively. Jennifer L. Nuesse got 405 votes. Rich Nagel got 665 votes for mayor. There were 51 write-ins.

In Clements, Wade Scott Dwinnell and Dennis Stewig were elected city councilors with 35 and 30 votes respectively. Jessica J. Schultz got 26 votes and Nic Groebner got 17 votes. Thomas Groebner got 39 votes for mayor. There were eight write-ins.

In Lamberton, Julie Senst and David Irlbeck were elected city councilors with 240 and 169 votes respectively. Leah Bittner got 126 votes and Heather Hacker got 78 votes. There were 119 write-ins for a special election for a councilor. Lydell Sik got 238 votes for mayor. There were 79 write-ins.

In Jeffers, Sheila Ryker and Schawna Door-Jones were elected city councilors with 104 and 86 votes respectively. Elizabeth Stumpf got 25 votes. There were three write-ins. Brad Prins got 113 votes for mayor. There were three write-ins.

In Hector, Jeff Heerdt and Penny Kandt were elected city councilors with 291 and 208 votes respectively. Dave Brateng got 158 votes. There were eight write-ins. Amy Hollan was elected to the city council in a special election with 315 votes. Adam Schaufler got 60 votes. Janis L. Weikle got 366 votes for mayor. There were seven write-ins.

In Darfur, Karen A. Norell and Doreen Bowman were elected city councilors with 22 and 18 votes respectively. Darwin Thiessen got four votes. There were two write-ins. John M. Schumann got 21 votes for mayor. There were four write-ins.

Madelia voters elected Cody E. Eager and David Whitney to the city council with 503 and 392 votes respectively. Nate Ellis got 309 votes. Michael F. Grote got 637 votes for mayor. There were 39 write-ins.
