Drug Task Force arrests two suspects

NEW ULM — The Brown-Lyon-Redwood-Renville Drug Task Force found more than one dosage unit of suspected methamphetamine in various packaging during the execution of a search warrant in New Ulm Friday.

Felony 5th-degree drug possession of a controlled substance charges were filed Friday against Damian J. Ristau, 28, and Ashley R. Swanson, 38, both of 108 S. Broadway, New Ulm.

According to court documents, New Ulm Police and Brown County Sheriff’s Office personnel assisted in the execution of the search warrant.

At the residence, basement occupants identified as Ristau and Swanson were transported to the Brown County Law Enforcement Center Nicollet County on outstanding warrants.

Law enforcement located paraphernalia items that field-tested positive for methamphetamine. Items found in a black camera case included bags with crystal-like substances weighing 1.3 and 1.6 grams, a red rag with glass pipe field-testing positive for meth in a Minnesota Twins shirt, bubble wrap with a glass pipe field-testing positive for meth in a 3-drawer organizer, 3 bags with residue field-testing positive for meth, 2 one-hitter, metal marijuana pipes, a glass pipe.

Ristau’s bail without conditions was set at $20,000; $5,000 with conditions Monday. Swanson’s bail is $10,000 without conditions. She could be released on her own recognizance with a promise to appear in court and other conditions.
