NEW ULM — New Ulm Area Catholic Schools (NUACS) held their annual Alexander Berghold Society Appeal dinner at the New Ulm Country Club, Saturday.

The event honors donors who have contributed $250 or more to the annual appeal.

The dinner opened with a prayer from Bishop John M. LeVoir. Bob Weier, a 1968 graduate of Cathedral High School and current CHS baseball coach, was the featured speaker for the evening.

The 2018 annual appeal raised $131,166 with over $2.6 million raised in over 30 years of existence. The appeal is a major contributor to the NUACS annual budget.

The appeal is named after Fr. Alexander Berghold, the founder of Catholic schools in New Ulm. Berghold was the first resident pastor in the city, architect of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, and the founder of the first hospital in New Ulm.

“We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all of our Fr. Alexander Berghold Annual Appeal Donors,” NUACS Director of Development and Marking, Sara Rieland said. “Through the generosity of our benefactors, we are able to provide a high-quality Catholic education in New Ulm. Our continued success depends significantly on the support of our donors, and these gifts area true blessing in the lives of our students and their families.”
