NEW ULM — The Minnesota State Patrol has identified the pedestrian killed in a one-vehicle crash at Broadway and 6th North Street on Thursday.

The State Patrol reported Friday afternoon that Craig L. Schmidt, 63, New Ulm, died in the crash involving a 2017 Dodge Journey driven by Tammy L. Waibel, 48, of New Ulm.

Schmidt was crossing Broadway to the south.

North Broadway was closed for several hours around the crash scene as New Ulm Police and the State Patrol investigated the crash. Allina Ambulance assisted at the scene.

The Minnesota State Patrol is continuing its investigation, according to the New Ulm Police Department. Its report will be sent to the Brown County Attorney’s office for review, a police department statement said.
