Planning panel OKs applications

NEW ULM — The Brown County Planning Commission unanimously approved a final plat application and two preliminary plat applications Tuesday:

• A final plat application filed by Mary Runge on property owned by Glenn W. Runge Trust and Thomas Blackstad, known as Black Run Farm Site, 5.95 acres, Section 22, Albin Township. The parcel being plated is an existing building site being split off from tilled ground. The motion was made by Commissioner Dennis Potter and seconded by Anita Mohr.

• A preliminary plat application filed by Doug Helget on property owned by LaMonte and Elaine Helget, known as LaMonte Helget Subdivision (7.29 acres), Section 26, Leavenworth Township. The parcel being plated is an existing building site being split off from the tilled ground. The motion was made by Potter and seconded by Commissioner John Rolloff.

• A preliminary plat application filed by Joleen Dittbenner on property owned by Marian Johnson, known as Dittbenner 2nd Subdivision (5.00 acres), Section 12, Prairieville Township. The parcel being plated is an existing building site being split off from tilled ground. The motion was by Potter, seconded by Mohr.

Planning Commission recommendations will be considered by the Brown County Board of Commissioners at 10 a.m. Oct. 16.

Commissioners discussed proposed zoning ordinance changes including removing language about 2/4 (super majority) approval, replacing language on how to apply for a zoning permit to include doing so through the planning and zoning office website www.permits.co.brown.mn.us.; and changing a 30-feet minimum setback from top of bluff to 50 feet for non-eroding bluffs and 100 feet for actively eroding bluffs.
