Godahl Day features new entertainment

Labor Day parade, coronation at 12:30 p.m. Monday

GODAHL — The 63rd Annual Godahl Day Labor Day Celebration will feature traditional and new entertainment this year.

Music starts at 9:30 a.m. with old time music by Harry Wojahn of Fairfax. The Armstrong Boulevard Brass Quintet of St. James will feature two trumpets, a French horn, trombone and tuba at 10:30 a.m. With more than 150 years of combined performance experience, the group will perform jazz standards, classics and current pop and rock, among other music.

The parade begins at 12:30 p.m., followed by the Miss Godahl queen coronation. Candidates are Lorena Butler, daughter of Steve Butler and Wendy and Brad Carlson and AnaParker, daughter of Gary and Ann Parker.

The Marv and Carol Nissel Band of New Ulm follows at 1:30 p.m. Mike Lang of Sleepy Eye performs at 3 p.m. Local talent takes stage at 4:30 p.m. Drawings begin at 5:30 p.m.

Lunch is available all day. The main building menu includes hot pork and ham sandwiches, hot dogs, baked beans, pie, cake, donuts and beverages. Popcorn and hamburger stands are available.

Kids baseball games begin at 1 p.m. Other events include bingo, dancing, Messy Bessy and a bouncy castle. Queen voting will take lace from 9 a.m. to noon.

Godahl Day funds will support grounds maintenance and kids baseball and softball programs.
