Rural Fairfax man faces felony drug sale charge

NEW ULM — Felony first-degree drug sale charges were filed against a 34-year-old rural Fairfax man in Brown County District Court July 3.

Logan M. Bellon, 67798 Fort Road, Fairfax is accused of unlawfully selling one or more mixtures of 17 grams or more containing cocaine or methamphetamine within 90 days.

According to the complaint, a Brown-Lyon-Redwood-Renville County Drug Task Force agent was contacted by a confidential informant (CI) on April 24 about a possible controlled substance transaction in New Ulm. The CI said Logan M. Bellon was willing to sell 10.5 grams of meth for $450.

The agent saw Bellon walking around a building prior to the purchase in New Ulm. He wore a blue baseball cap, hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans and arrived in a red Nissan. Another agent acted in an undercover capacity (UC) to drive the CI to meet Bellon.

The UC handed a crystal-like substance in a clear, plastic bag and said the CI gave it to them them when they got in the UC vehicle. The substance field-tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed 14.6 grams on a non-certified scale in its original packaging.

On April 26, the agent was contacted by the CI about a possible controlled substance transaction in New Ulm. The CI said Bellon was wiling to sell 10.5 grams of meth for $450 at the same place the previous transaction occurred.

After the transaction took place, the agent took possession of the bag with a crystal-like substance purchased from Bellon. It field-tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed 11 grams on a non-certified scale in its original packaging.

Bellon was apprehended without issue in Fairfax on July 2. He was transported to the Brown County Jail. He was convicted of a second-degree controlled substance crime on June 23, 2014 in Kandiyohi County.
