‘Germans Have More Fun’

NEW ULM — The New Ulm Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is installing 16 foot “Germans Have More Fun” decals on the sides of a Minnesota Valley Transport semi-truck trailer as part of a marketing campaign.

Randy Horejsi of Horejsi Graphics installed the decals Wednesday afternoon. Horejsi said he had attached larger decals on other trailers before, but it was a rare request. He estimated the “Germans Have More Fun” decal took a total of five hours to put in place.

New Ulm Chamber of Commerce marketing specialist Sarah Warmka said the benefit of attaching the New Ulm promotion to a truck is that a truck is like a mobile billboard. The decal also has an “Explore Minnesota” sign. Warmka said the Explore Minnesota tourism group was funding some of the campaign through grants.

Minnesota Valley Transport owners Dan Forsythe and Gary Rose said this trailer spends over 50 percent of its time out of Minnesota. Their trucks go all across the United States from Maine to California. The driver of this specific truck lives in Wisconsin and usually only returns to New Ulm for maintenance.

Forsythe said they will keep the “Germans Have More Fun” decal on the trailer for as long as they own it. The trailer is new and he anticipates it will remain in service for six to seven years.

Minnesota Valley Transport is not charging the Chamber of Commerce for the advertisement. They agreed to the partnership as a way to give back to the community.

Forsythe said they are planning on pulling the trailer through the Bavarian Blast parade this year.
