Rising river

Keian Klinger of Waseca and his grandfather Jeff Fluegge of New Ulm take a look at the rising Minnesota River in the Minnecon Park June 12. The parking lot that is now partially submerged. The river’s latest observed value was 795.92 feet at 10:45 a.m. June 12, according to the National Weather Service Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service. Flood waters impact park land and the boat launch access road is closed at 796 feet. Flood waters begin to impact floodplain access roads at 795 feet.

Due to high water on the Minnesota and Cottonwood Rivers, the City of New Ulm has closed the public water access sites in Minnecon Park at 2 5th N. St. and Adams Park at 620 Cottonwood St. These sites will remain closed until the water recedes.
