New Ulm native David Nass receives Bronze Star
CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. — Gunnery Sergeant David C. Nass was awarded the Bronze Star Medal at a recent ceremony at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.
The citation that accompanied the award commended Nass for meritorious service during a deployment to northern Iraq from January to July 2016, during which he served as the Operations and Intelligence Chief of a Marine Corps Special Operations Team. The citation states Nass’ efforts “were instrumental in foiling two of the largest enemy counter-attacks of 2016” in the region.
This is the second Bronze Star Medal for Nass, and he also was recently given a meritorious promotion to Gunnery Sergeant.
Nass is a Marine Raider serving with the 2nd Marine Corps Raider Battalion. He was a 2006 graduate of Minnesota Valley Lutheran High School.
