Helmets, broomball sticks/brooms and broomball shoes are required. Shin guards and gloves are strongly recommended. Punch cards and annual memberships available for sale at the Civic Center.

Buckthorn Removal Help Wanted – South Market Park (The Bike Trail runs through it from 15th to 13th South) has a large amount of buckthorn that needs to be removed. This is a very large burden because of the volume of buckthorn. There is lots of small buckthorn that is best removed with a lopper and a bingo blotter type applicator. As long as there is less than an inch or two of snow, removal is easy. Anyone willing to donate any amount of time is encouraged to contact Ellen Vancura at 507-354-8744, text or call 612-718-9774 or email newulmbuckthorn@gmail.com. She would like to work with any and all volunteers! Even one hour can make a big difference and is much appreciated!

City Tree Inventory Help Wanted – The City’s Tree Advisory Commission will be conducting an inventory of trees on city parks and streets beginning in early spring, 2017. Volunteers will be needed to assist with data collection. No experience is necessary and free training will be provided by the University of Minnesota. Interested individuals should contact Shane Omersa at the Park and Rec office at 507-359-8341 or email shane.omersa@ci.new-ulm.mn.us. This will be a great opportunity to be active, increase your knowledge of trees and help maintain the health and enjoyment of New Ulm’s local environment.
