Community Open House on Oct. 1

NEW ULM The whole community will have an opportunity to see what has been going on at District 88 schools Oct. 1.

That Saturday parents and community members are invited to tour the renovated buildings in the morning and the high school in the afternoon. From 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. the Washington Learning Center, Jefferson Elementary and the New Ulm Middle School will be open for tours. From 1 to 3 p.m. the high school will be open.

“I am hoping [community members] walk away with what we said we were going to do is what we did,” Superintendent Jeff Bertrang said.

Visitors will be able to tour both the inside and outside of the campuses. At the high school, that includes the new sports complex.

Teachers will be available to answer questions and to guide tours through the building. Visitors should expect to enter through the front doors of each building to meet with staff for tours.

There are a few places that are not entirely finished. In the high school, the auditorium lighting and sound systems are still being installed.

In Washington the elevator for the main entrance still has not arrived, though Principal Dawn Brown expects it in mid-October.
