The water levels continue to drop slowly on the Minnesota River but large sections of Riverside and Minnecon Park remain flooded. As the results of the flooding the Annual Youth Fishing Contest in Riverside was moved from August 17 to Wednesday, August 31. Joyce Reese, a volunteer at the Riverside History and Nature Learning Center, said the water has receded a little from last week and is hoping the river will be down to allow the fishing contest next Wednesday. Reese commented that last week the water was so high carp could be seen swimming in the tree line.
