Brown County District Court

• Two gross misdemeanor second-degree DWI charges were filed Aug. 9, 2021 against Larry J. Becker, 2526 Bridge St. S., New Ulm. Bail without conditions was set at $12,000 Monday, no bail with conditions. A court appearance was set for 1:15 p.m. Aug. 23.

According to the complaint, New Ulm Police were requested to respond to 12th South and Minnesota Street at 9:12 p.m. Aug. 7, 2021 for a crash. One of the vehicle drivers involved said he was southbound on Minnesota St., stopped at 12th St. S. stop sign, began to proceed and was rear-ended by a vehicle driven by Becker, who the other driver said admitted to him that he consumed an alcoholic beverage.

Becker told police he has had strokes and cancer that affect his coordination and balance. Becker showed intoxication signs and failed a Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus field sobriety test and was arrested for DWI. A breath test showed an alcohol concentration of 0.08 grams per 210 liters of breath.

Becker’s driving record showed he was convicted of DWI in Brown County on Nov. 29, 2015 and on Nov. 23, 2016.
