• Kelvin A. Bast, 67, 43709 175th St. W., Springfield, was charged with 3rd-degree criminal damage to property Friday. According to court documents, a Brown County Sheriff’s Office deputy took a follow-up report pertaining to a property damage crash that occurred near 17349 420th Ave. on Aug. 1. At the scene, a man said his wife and brother were struck by another vehicle while driving on a field road near 420th Avenue. The man sad he had an ongoing battle over the field road and property with Bast.

In addition, the man said he got a phone call from a neighbor letting him know his cattle were out of their fence. The man said he walked through the field and got help unplugging the fence to get the cattle back in. The man said Bast and his wife came driving down the field road and hit his truck head-on with two people inside.

Police photographed the damaged truck. Bast said the crash was not intentional and said the neighbors were trespassing during the incident. A repair estimate was $535.29.

Bast was summoned to appear in court at 8:30 a.m., Oct. 30.
