Court Proceedings

Brown County District Court

• Wanda A. Schoenhoff, 57, 205 S. Minnesota St., New Ulm, was charged Monday with felony 3rd-degree burglary.

According to court documents, New Ulm Police responded to a reported burglary on the 200 block of South Minnesota St. Sept. 18. At the scene, two family members said they arrived home from church and saw a neighbor, Schoenhoff, leaving the residence. Schoenhoff told them she was leaving because she got in trouble from the other family member for being in her house, where she was looking for beer.

Victim 1 said she told Shoenhoff she didn’t have any beer and told her not to come back again. Victim 2 told Victim 1 that Schoenhoff was in their kitchen, opened the refrigerator and had a beer in her hand, so Victim 1 called police.

Victim 2 told a similar story to police. Police tried to find Schoenhoff but were not successful. Police later got a complaint about a woman near South Valley Street. The woman was located and identified as Schoenhoff, who was heavily intoxicated and transported to the Brown County Evaluation Center (detox).

• David M. MacLaren, 55, 205 N. Washington Ave., Springfield, was charged with felony domestic abuse/violates 2 or more OFP within 10 years of previous conviction/adjudication of delinquency Monday.

According to court documents, Springfield Police were working the day shift on Sept. 1 when a victim said MacLaren was at her residence multiple times while an OFP (Order for Protection) was in place. The victim said he came to her residence many times after he was released from jail, with gifts and flowers to try and get her to recant her statement against him.

The victim and MacLaren had a domestic assault incident on June 2, 2018.

A review of MacLaren’s record showed prior, qualified domestic-related offenses including OFP violation convictions on Dec. 3, 2015; July 27, 2015 and for domestic assault on July 27, 2015. He was summoned to appear in court at 8:30 a.m., Oct. 16.
