• Landon L. Evans, 22, 220 Main St., Revere, was charged with gross misdemeanor 2nd-degree DWI; 2 or more aggravating factors Tuesday. According to court documents, the Brown County Sheriff’s Office got a call from Cottonwood County dispatch on Sept. 16 alerting them to a possible roll-over at Mound Creek Park, Stately Township, west of Comfrey. It was reported that the people involved were drinking and trying to find someone to help them remove the vehicle.

A deputy drove to Mound Creek Park and did not find any rolled vehicle, but saw marked on a gravel road in the park indicating vehicle tires were spun. The deputy saw tire skid marks on a gravel road that went off a “T” intersection on the 450th Avenue gate, so he stopped, looked in the ditch and saw lots of broken glass.

A short time later, the deputy was notified that a Cottonwood County deputy found the vehicle sought in Brown County. The vehicle found was driving on a rim with no tire on the driver’s side front. It appeared to be demolished with deployed side airbags and had shattered side windows.

Evans told the deputy he was driving the car when it rolled by Mound Creek Park. He had blood on his shirt and abrasions on his right elbow. A passenger in the vehicle was not injured, Evans said. Evans admitted to drinking too much to drive and driving it on a township road as it was being towed. He failed certain field sobriety tests. A digital breath sample showed a .197 alcohol level, more than twice the legal limit. Evans was arrested and transported to the Brown County Jail.

Evans was convicted of DWI in Lyon County on Jan. 6, 2015 and on Feb. 10, 2017 in Renville County.
