ECFE Gym Night Nov. 1

NEW ULM — Have children who need to run off some extra energy? Join us for ECFE Family Gym Night. Family Gym Night provides an indoor space for kids to scooter, jump, crawl, play, use riding toys, and lots more. Join us at the Washington Learning Center from 6 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1. This is a free family event.

Renters Workshop offered

NEW ULM — The New Ulm Economic Development Authority is offering a free Workshop for Renters. The workshop, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21 in the New Ulm Public Library basement, will offer guidance for renters using the University of Minnesota’s Rent Wise Program.

Participants who attend the entire workshop will receive a certificate of completion. Call 507-359-8227 or email nueda@newulmmn.gov to RSVP by Nov. 15 to attend the workshop. Space is limited and will be granted on a first come, first serve basis.

MLC Forum performing “Big Fish”

NEW ULM — The Martin Luther College Forum is presenting the musical “BigFish.”

Based on the novel by Daniel Wallace and the film directed by Tim Burton, “Big Fish” tells the story of Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman who lives life to its fullest…and then some! Edward’s incredible, larger-than-life stories thrill everyone around him — most of all, his devoted wife Sandra. But their son, Will, about to have a child of his own, is determined to find the truth behind his father’s epic tales.

Performances are 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 1 and 2, and 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3 at the Martin Luther College auditorium. Purchase tickets through the website mlc-wels.edu/forum or call Forum at 507-233-9114.

Minnesota Music Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Friday

NEW ULM — The Minnesota Music Hall of Fame is holding its annual Induction Ceremony on Friday, Nov. 1, with a gala banquet at Turner Hall in New Ulm.

Inductees include: the Peterson Familiy; Ernie Coopman; O’Neill Brothers; John and Sara McKay; Soul Asylym and John Holmquist.

Social hour starts at 5 p.m., with the banquet dinner at 6 p.m. and the induction ceremony at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $50 per person ($45 for members).

The Minnesota Music Hall of Fam Showcase will be held the next day, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the MMHF museum, 27 North Broadway. Admission is free.

Treat Night at American Legion

NEW ULM — The New Ulm Sons of the American Legion is its annual Halloween Community Treat Night at the American Legion Club rooms at 13 South Minnesota Street in New Ulm, Thursday, Oct. 31, from 5-8 pm.

Children will receive a chance for a door prize, free candy bag with a nice assortment of candy, glass of juice, a Coloring book and crayons, and a place to sit, rest, or warm up for a couple minutes as they make their rounds on Halloween night.

Parking attendants will also be outside to assist with the traffic by the Legion.

The event is for kids age 15 and under, with a special emphasis on children 11 & under. Come down in costumes, and make the New Ulm Legion a part of your Trick or Treat route!

The event is sponsored by the New Ulm Sons of the American Legion, and co-sponsored by the American Legion-Post 132, and the Legion Auxiliary, New Ulm Legion Riders, and the Optimist Club of New Ulm.

It has been a annual event since the early 1970’s.
