Spring/Summer Activities Guide is in TODAY’S JOURNAL. Registration begins April 8 at 10 a.m.

Easter Ceramics class is offered April 2 and 4 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. at the Community Center. Register online or at the Rec Center.

Tot Swim is held the first and third Fridays of the month; April 5 and 19 from 9:30-11 a.m. This is an opportunity to Swim and play with your tot in the shallow part of the pool. Toys provided and tot slide will be open. Whirlpool is closed during this time. Admission is $2.75/tot.

No ice at the Civic Center now through April 5.

TEEN Day of Play (Ages 12-18) Saturday, April 6 from 6-9 p.m. FREE admission to the Rec Center to swim, shoot hoops, volleyball, racquetball and gym games. This program is brought to you by the many Days of Play community businesses and service organizations. .

Self Paced Triathlon is being offered April 8-May 17 at the Rec Center. Activity miles may be completed in or outdoors. We will rely on the honor system when recording mileage totals. All competitors that reach their goal by the end of the event will receive a t-shirt. You do not need to be a member of the Rec Center to take part in the triathlon. There are several divisions available with various distances of swim, run/walk and bike.

Adult Swim Lessons offered Tuesdays April 9, 16, 23, 30 and May 7 from 5:15-6 p.m. at the Indoor Pool. Register at the Rec Center or online at newulmmn.gov Fee: $35 Residents/$38.50 Non-residents.

Archery Classes are starting at the Civic Center in the next couple of weeks! We offer beginners, intermediate/advanced and a special Parent/Child Archery Class. Register online or at the Rec Center!

Fit and Strong! Arthritis Management and Prevention Program is a physical activity self-management program for older adults or persons with lower extremity osteoarthritis (OA). It combines flexibility, strength training and aerobic walking with health education for sustained behavior change. Expect to gain a clear understanding of what osteoarthritis is and how physical activity that is tailored to the needs of persons with arthritis can help them manage arthritis symptoms. Learn to perform safe stretching, balance, aerobic and strengthening exercises. Groups meet weekly for 6 weeks on Fridays from 8-9:15 a.m. April 12 through May 24 (No class April 19).

Funtastic Family Fair! Saturday, April 13 from 10-11:30 a.m. at the New Ulm Civic Center. There will be over 30 community agencies, programs and businesses at the Civic Center with booths and interactive activities for young children and great information for parents on community resources. There will be a variety of un projects for young kids, free healthy snack samples at select booths and learn about the New Ulm Community Garden and reserve your plot. Young children learning to ride bikes can try out the striders from the River Valley BMX Club. Join the fun! Participating Organizations include Hearts Beat Back/Heart of New Ulm, ECFE, Park and Rec., SHIP (Brown, Nicollet, LeSueur and Waseca Counties) and the New Ulm Police Department.

Center Street Sidewalk along Hermann Heights Park is temporarily closed due to retaining wall buckling and some of the pavers falling. Please exercise caution in this area.

Spring Flooding: Minnecon Park is closed, due to high water. Many parts of Riverside Park are also affected; the “horseshoe” shaped road at the end of Center Street, including the boat landing is covered. These stay back from barricades and flooded areas.  

Open Pickleball at Rec Center Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 1-2:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10-11:30 a.m. Memberships, Punch cards, cards or Daily Admission apply.

Youth and Adult Pottery classes are beginning in April. Register online or at the Rec Center!

2019 Days of Play: Thank you to New Ulm Area Businesses and Service Organizations who have so generously donated to our 2019 Days of Play for this year! These community wide events are designed to celebrate active play with a variety of play experiences in a festive atmosphere, are offered throughout the year, free of charge for children through adults and we could not do it without your generous support! We raised $13,000 for this year’s events!
