Weight Lifting for Women Class is a 6-week, 60-minute program designed to familiarize women with fitness equipment, providing skills needed to plan weight room workouts. Classes run Wednesdays at 5 p.m. Jan. 30 through March 6. Register at the Rec Center or online at newulmmn.gov

Tot Swim is held the first and third Fridays of the month; Feb. 1 and 15 from 9:30-11 a.m. This is an opportunity to Swim and play with your tot in the shallow part of the pool. Toys provided and tot slide will be open. Whirlpool is closed during this time. Admission is $2.75/tot.

Upcoming Lifeguard Training Course offered at the Rec Center Feb. 14-17. Please note: this is a blended learning class, so there is online material that needs to be completed prior to class starting. Participants will also be required to complete a physical fitness swim test consisting of a 300-yard swim (6 laps) using front crawl and breaststroke, tread water for 2 minutes with no hands and be able to retrieve a 10-pound brick from 7-10 feet of water, swim 20 yards back to side of pool, get out of pool without using a ladder or stairs within 1 minute and 40 seconds in order to proceed with the course. Participants may register for at the Rec Center or online at www.newulmmn.gov.

WSI (Water Safety Instructor) Class offered March 21-24. Participants may register at the Rec Center or online at www.newulmmn.gov

Child/Adult Fit and Fun is an opportunity to spend time together teaching sportsmanship, respect, team building skills and improve fitness levels through specialized activities. Class is designed and required for one adult to participate with one child ages 2-6, have fun and be active together. The next session offered is Sunday afternoons Feb. 17 through March 10. Harman Park Warming house is open! Hours are Monday through Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday 5 to 9 p.m., Saturday 1 to 9 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 5 p.m. Hot cocoa and coffee are available for sale, as well as limited number of skate rentals for $2.25 per pair. The warming house will not open in the case of severe windchills or poor weather conditions.

Open Pickleball at Rec Center Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 1-2:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10-11:30 a.m. Memberships, Punch cards, cards or Daily Admission apply.

Open Broomball runs Wednesdays from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at the Civic Center. Admission is $4.75 per person or punch cards are available for $42.75 for a 12-punch card. This is a non-checking league, open to men and women, ages 18 or older. Players may divide into teams for a fun, competitive workout and challenging game play. Helmets, broomball stick/broom and broomball shoes are required. Shin guards and gloves are recommended. Limited equipment available on a first come-first serve basis.

Winter/Spring Activities Guide was distributed in the Dec. 30 Journal! Registration is open at newulmmn.gov or at the Rec Center.

Vogel Fieldhouse and walking track closed Saturday, Feb. 9, Sunday, Feb. 10 and Saturday, Feb. 16 for a youth basketball tournament. The fitness centers, racquetball courts and indoor pool will be open and available to use!
