Indoor Pool and Locker Rooms open! Members who rent lockers may take possession of their lockers again. Enjoy the look and feel of the anti-slip surfacing in the locker rooms and around the outside of the indoor pool.

Weight Lifting for Women is a six-week program designed to familiarize women with our Fitness room, exercise equipment and machines. It also gives participants the skills needed to plan their own weight room workouts. Designed for those who would like guidance in the use of machines and dumbbells but may not want the commitment of a personal trainer. The next session starts Oct. 11. Register online or at the Rec. Center.

Adult Volleyball League Registration and Captain’s Meeting will be Wednesday, Sept. 13 at the Recreation Center. Women Leagues Meeting is at 6:30 p.m. and Co-Rec League at 7:15 p.m.

NETA and Park and Rec. will be offering a Group Exercise Certification Class on Saturday, Sept. 16 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. where potential and current fitness instructors will learn basic academic and practical application of teaching group exercise. No college, science or teaching background is required. This workshop registration includes a full-day review, written exam and 2-year certification for fee of $299. NETA and Park and Rec. will be offering H.I.I.T. IT With Yoga on Sunday, Sept. 17. This is a fitness class that is fun, effective and challenging high intensity interval training. Yoga is practices of poses that combine deep, meditative breathing with slow strengthening movements which is incredibly healthy for your mind, body and spirit. Fusing these two seemingly different formats together is clearly a “win-win” approach for successful cardiovascular exercise improvement and overall performance. Workshop fee is $119. Adult Swim Lessons will be offered Tuesdays, Sept. 19, 26, Oct. 3, 10 and 17 from 5:15-5:55 p.m. Class will help gain basic aquatic skills and swimming strokes and teach skills and concepts needed to stay safe in and around water and be able to help themselves or others in an aquatic emergency.

Tot Swim Returns! Fridays Sept. 22, Oct. 6, Oct. 20, November 3, November 17, December 1 and 15 from 9:30-11 a.m. in the shallow area of the Indoor pool. This is a great opportunity for small children to get used to the water with others their own age during this special swim for small children. Use the tot slide and other fun toys! Adults must be in the water and children must be within reach of an adult at all times. Whirlpool closed during to swim. $2.25 per child. Adults free.

Autumn Garage Sales held Saturday, Sept. 23 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at the New Ulm Civic Center. Shop until you drop! Come and check out the 45 vendors selling all kinds of treasures under one roof!

Hermann Swim Club for ages 8-17 Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-5:30 p.m. Sept. 26-November 16. This is a recreational swim club that focuses on training swimmers and improving their swim strokes, build muscle, speed, strength and improve endurance. Participants must have passed Level 4 Swim Lessons and be at least 8 years old. Fee: $55 Resident or $60.50/non-resident.

Floating Pumpkin Patch- Friday, Oct. 6 from 5-8:30 p.m. in the Rec. Center’s Pool. Select your own pumpkin in the pool, then deck it out with all sorts of fun items at our decorating station! This is a family event, suitable for participants of all ages! Bring a friend. Children 5 and under must be accompanied by an adult in the water. Fee $5 Rec. Center Members or $7/Non-members.

Hermann 5k Run/Walk Saturday, Oct. 14. This is the 9th year of New Ulm’s most unique 5K and again this year will be a Hermann Tot Trot starting at 8:30 a.m., followed by the 5k Run/Walk starting at 9:00 a.m. Register by going to the city website at www.ci.new-ulm.mn.us.
