NEW ULM — The hunt was on for wild turkeys recently at the second annual Bill Strenge Memorial Turkey Hunt. Dave and Carol Strenge hosted members of Ardent Archers, an affiliate of Wounded Warriors, and three young hunters gunning for their first turkeys.

While they were not able to harvest a bird, all hunters enjoyed their time outdoors. They saw turkeys and heard the distinctive gobble.

Steve Cummins and his son Tony came from Saginaw, MN, near Duluth. Darold Tyrpa, Forrest Pryde, and Tom Goodrich and his sons Noah and John live in the Twin Cities area. They were led by Ardent Archers founder Matt Wilkie of Loretto. Local turkey hunter from Cambria, Doyal Johnson, served as guide and mentor.

The Strenge’s thank the veterans for their service, and for the honor of hosting this hunt.
