Park & Rec Report

The Rec, Civic and Community Centers are closed. Staff is still working, so feel free to call 507-359-8344 for questions or assistance. Outside facility reservations for these City Buildings will be canceled through at least March 29.

Spring Garage Sales (postponed until further notice)

Annual and 3-month memberships will be extended by the amount of time the facility is closed

The Spring/Summer Park and Recreation and Community Education Summer Activities Guide and Registration has been delayed. Stay tuned for further information.

Meals on Wheels and Senior Citizens Center meals are still operating. Please call 359-2243 to make arrangements for meals delivery or to call and reserve a meal for pick up/take out.

Archery Classes scheduled to begin in April will likely be postponed to canceled. Stay tuned for updates.

Glockenspiel is experiencing technical difficulties. A new controller is coming soon, which we believe will resolve these issues.

German Park Amphitheater is in great need of improvement! Over $1.2M is needed, $800,000 has already been raised. Fundraising for this project continues. You can help transform it into the area’s premier Outdoor Performing Arts venue. Any size of donation is accepted and greatly appreciated. Donor names will be inscribed in the amphitheater. This project is a perfect way to honor your loved one, friend, family, business or any of life’s celebrations. Donations should be made payable to City of New Ulm Amphitheater and mailed to the Park and Rec. Dept., 122 S. Garden Street, New Ulm. Riverside Environmental Learning Center located in Riverside Park is open Saturdays 1 to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 12 to 4 p.m. or by appointment (Please call Ron at 507-766-5770.)

Memorial/Gift Giving Ideas – purchase one or more paver stone(s) with your inscription(s), in the walkways near Hermann Monument and/or German Park for $200 each, contact the Park & Rec office at 359-8344. Park or trail benches range in price from $1,500 to $3,500 each, call 359-8344.
