Off the Shelf: Everything here and there and everywhere

One of the great benefits of being within the Traverse des Sioux Library Cooperative is that we have access to a multitude of items. If we don’t have a book, DVD, or audiobook at the library or it’s checked out here in New Ulm, we can see if one of the other libraries has one that is available.

What you might not know is… you can return, check-outor pick up items at any library within the Traverse des Sioux Library Cooperative with your library card. Throughout the week, we have delivery between libraries that keeps materials flowing not only throughout the library cooperative but to the greater Minnesota library community.

If it’s not within the library cooperative we check to see if it’s in MNLink. MNLink gives us access to materials throughout the state of Minnesota. The interlibrary loans are facilitated through the Traverse des Sioux Library Cooperative. MNLink is administered by Minitex which is a joint program of the Office of Higher Education and the University of Minnesota Libraries. The State Library Services, a division of the Minnesota Department of Education, provides additional funding to support services for Minnesota libraries and library users. Our New Ulm Public Library cardholders have access to these great libraries and their collective resources.

Patrons can also visit and attend programs at other libraries. Libraries are different because the communities they serve are unique so the offerings available at one might differ at another. You can also check out items like games, STEM kits, book club bags, reminiscence kits, and tools for beginner quilters from other libraries as well. Some savvy patrons travel between libraries! Next time you’re on a road trip within the Traverse des Sioux area and feeling adventurous, visit another library. We look forward, as always, to seeing you in the library!
