Lt. Col. Dustin Born

Born promoted to

Air Force Lieutenant Colonel

New Ulm native Dustin Born was selected for promotion to lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserve on Aug. 31. He took command of the 507th Reserve Civil Engineer Squadron, Tinker Air Force Base, Okla. on July 27.

Lt. Col. Born graduated from New Ulm High School in 1997 and the U.S. Air Force Academy in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He received his Master of Science in Construction Management in 2011 from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and graduated from Air Command and Staff College on June 4 with a Master of Science in Military Operational Art and Science.

His previous assignments include Colorado, South Dakota, Wyoming, Germany, Alabama and Oklahoma and deployments to Kyrgyzstan and Djibouti.

Lt. Col. Born is the son of Dennis and Kathleen Born of New Ulm, Minn. and is the younger brother of Nicholas Born of Ham Lake, Minn. He currently resides in the Rapid City, S.D. area with his wife and two children.
