Young Athlete’s Program, sponsored by Special Olympics

Description: Young Athletes is an innovative sports play program for children with and without intellectual disabilities. It’s designed to introduce them to the world of sports prior to Special Olympics at age 8 to work on foundation skills, balance, jumping, trapping, catching, kicking, walking, running and throwing.

Pediatric Developmental Screening

Description: The Developmental Assessment of Young Children (DAYC) is an assessment used to identify children birth through 5 years, 11 months with possible delay in cognition, communication, social emotional development, physical development and self-cares (dressing, eating, toileting etc.).

Cancer Support Group

Description: This group focuses on a wide variety of topics related to cancer and features guest speakers.

Childbirth Education Classes

Presenter: Nurses from our Obstetrics Unit
Description: Childbirth classes help prepare expectant mothers and their labor support person for the birth of her baby. Discussions, presentations, demonstrations and videos are incorporated to provide expectant mothers how to better care for themselves and their newborns. Expectant mothers and their labor support person should attend a class series in their sixth or seventh month of pregnancy, when possible.

Walk to School Day

Description: Heart of New Ulm and the Safe Routes to School Action team will be hosting the annual Walk to School Day – offering three remote sites where children can be dropped off and walk to school with adult volunteers. This activity is very popular with children and helps provide the physical activity needed to prepare them for a constructive day of learning.
