New Ulm Police
• Received a one-vehicle crash report with minor injuries on North Highland Avenue near Maplewood at 8:29 a.m., March 29. A 2000 Chevy Silverado driven by Mitchell Cook, 20, New Ulm was southbound on North Highland when he was looking at his cell phone, jumped the center median curb, hit a tree, crossed over the median and northbound land, jumped the curb, hit a utility box and stopped on top of it. Vehicle damage was moderate. The utility box and power lines in the box were destroyed. Cook had a minor hand cut and refused medical treatment.
• Received a two-vehicle crash report without reported injuries at 3rd North Street and German Street at 10:01 a.m. March 27. A 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by James W. Hulke, 69, New Ulm, was westbound on 3rd North when the front of the Dodge hit the passenger side of a 2009 Dodge Journey driven by Darroll D. Schmidtknecht, 72, Sleepy Eye, who was northbound. It was not known if drivers wore seat belts. Damage was severe to the passenger side of the Dodge Journey and moderate to the front driver’s side bumper area of the Dodge Ram.
