Athlete of the Week • March 31-April 6 • Logan Anderson, Madelia

Logan Anderson

Sr. Madelia High School

Son of Tait and Jenny Anderson

• Anderson pitched Game 1 of a doubleheader with Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart on Saturday, striking out 14 batters in a five-inning 2-1 nonconference baseball win. He also gave up just one hit, struck out the first 10 batters he faced and the only run he allowed was unearned.

• Madelia fell 11-9 in five innings to BLHS in Game 2, but Anderson added two hits and four RBIs.

Madelia coach Steve Willaert said that Anderson is competitive and that it’s paid off in every sport he’s been in so far. The coach also said that Anderson’s velocity and pitch variation has helped him be a top pitcher for his team.

“He is probably our most skilled pitcher on the mound with his velocity and the different type of pitches he throws,” Willaert said. “We’re only in our third year as a program and there are a lot of kids who are still learning the fundamentals of pitching.”
