NEW ULM — Breezy Point scored two goals just over two minutes apart in the third period to break a 3-3 tie as the North Stars skated by the New Ulm Steel 5-3 Saturday night at the New Ulm Civic Center in an NA3HL game.

Jack Parks, Jordan Cooper and Jacob Halvorson had the goals for New Ulm, with Hunter Johnson and Jarrett Cammarata having assists for the Steel.

New Ulm goaltender Henry Baribeau stopped 22 of 27 Breezy Point shots.

Breezy Point netminder Jacob MacLennan stopped 45 of 48 New Ulm shots as the Steel held a 48-22 shot advantage in the game. However, the Steel failed to score on seven power-play attempts in the game.

The loss was also costly in the standings as Alexandria won games both Friday and Saturday and now holds a 4-point lead over New Ulm for the fourth playoff spot.

After a scoreless first period, the North Stars grabbed a 2-0 lead on goals from Gunnar Bourasa and Jacob Berkowitz.

But the Steel knotted the game on goals from Cooper and Parks.

Carson Simon’s power-play goal at the 17:30 mark had Breezy Point carrying a 3-2 lead into the final period.

The Steel’s Jacob Halvorson then tied the game when he scored on a breakaway at the 9:46 mark.

However, the North Stars scored twice for a 5-3 lead.

The Steel pulled Baribeau for an extra attacker but failed to score.

New Ulm is at Breezy Point next Friday before hosting Rochester on Saturday for a 7:10 p.m. game at the New Ulm Civic Center.
