New Ulm’s Maudal finishes senior year with 2-1 day at Gustavus

ST. PETER — Six players of the New Ulm girls’ tennis team took part in Saturday’s 2AA south girls’ tennis individuals at Gustavus Adolphus College, with senior Emma Maudal taking her first two singles matches before falling to Alex Hantge of Hutchinson 6-2, 6-2 in the final singles match of the day.

Maudal first defeated Kianna Howard of New Prague 6-0, 6-2 before defeating Molly Grundhoffer of Mankato West 6-2, 6-0. Makia Otto was eliminated by Bella Maher of Hutchinson after a 6-1, 6-3 defeat.

In doubles action, New Ulm’s senior duo of Kellyn Emerson and Hannah Blumhoefer were defeated by Kelsey Goettle and Elli Kim of Mankato West 6-0, 6-1. Senior Abby Frauenholtz and sophomore Abbey Hietala were eliminated by Hutchinson’s Sabrina Tracy and Meredith Girard after a 6-1, 6-2 defeat.
