Eagles soccer falls to Fairmont

Fairmont 3, New Ulm 2

FAIRMONT — The New Ulm girls’ soccer team lost 3-2 in Big South Conference action on Saturday.

Fairmont led 2-0 after the first half, but New Ulm got second-half goals from Brynne Nesvold and Kaye Rysdahl to tie the game. Jessica Moellenhoff and Beka Friendshuh each had an assist.

Fairmont got the game-winning goal on a penalty kick with about 16 minutes left in the game. New Ulm outshot Fairmont 42-19.

Kendra Nesvold had 17 saves in the loss.

Prep volleyball

Pipestone 3, New Ulm 0

ST. JAMES — Pipestone Area swept New Ulm 25-20, 25-11, 25-22 in a Big South Conference volleyball crossover match.

Elizabeth Wolkow had 20 set assists and Madeline Gag had five kills and three blocks.

Nora Windschill had six kills and two blocks and Ellie Bute had nine. Ally Steffensmeier had three kills and six digs.
