New Ulm 6, Worthington 1

WORTHINGTON — New Ulm defeated Worthington on Thursday in a Big South girls’ tennis match.

Emma Maudal won at No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-2, Makiah Otto won 7-6 (7-4) 7-6 (8-6) at No. 2 singles.

Abby Hietala won at No 3 singles 6-3, 6-4 and Malia Emerson won at No. 4 singles 6-3, 6-4.

Hannah Blumhoefer and Kellyn Emerson won at No. 1 doubles 6-3, 6-1, Bethany Janssen and Gabby Sammons lost at No. 2 doubles 6-4 (7-5), 7-6 and Carli Botten and Lydia King won at No. 3 doubles 7-6 (7-4), 7-7 (8-6).

New Ulm will host Marshall on Tuesday.

Girls’ soccer

New Ulm 3,

Mankato Loyola 0

MANKATO — New Ulm blanked Mankato Loyola on Thursday in a Big South Conference girls’ soccer match.

Madison Roufs scored the Eagles’ first goal with an assist by Jessica Moellenhoff. Paige Kalis got the second goal with an assist by Bekah Friendshuh. Friendshuh scored New Ulm’s final goal with an assist by Elle Cooper. All of the goals were scored in the first half.

The Eagles had 11 shots on goal to one by Loyola. Goaltender Kendra Nesvold had one save.

New Ulm will travel to Fairmont on Saturday.

Prep volleyball

St. Peter 3, New Ulm 1

ST. PETER — St. Peter downed New Ulm 25-23, 25-15, 22-25, 25-22 on Thursday in a Big South Conference volleyball match.

Elizabeth Wolkow had 21 set assists for the Eagles, Ashlyn Donner added six digs, Olivia Wick had seven kills and Madeline Gag had five kills with three solo blocks. Nora Windschill had four kills with five digs.

New Ulm will participate in the Big South Crossover on Saturday.

Wabasso 3, YME 0

WABASSO — Wabasso defeated Yellow Medicine East 25-20, 25-20, 25-17 on Thursday in a nonconference volleyball match.

Maddy Guetter had 21 kills and 15 digs and Jenna Frank had 33 set assists. Megan Rothmeier and McKenna Nelson each added nine digs.

Wabasso (1-0) will play at Minneota on Tuesday.
