UMAC announces 10-Year celebration to take place during 2018-19
ST. PAUL — The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) completed its 10th year as a Division III member conference in 2017-18 and will recognize this milestone with a celebration throughout the 2018-19 academic year, the conference announced Wednesday.
“The UMAC 10-year celebration will be an opportunity to acknowledge the achievements of our nine full-member and four associate-member institutions from our first 10 years in Division III,” UMAC Commissioner Corey Borchardt said in a press release. “Our conference has grown significantly in 10 years and we’re excited to commemorate our success while looking forward to continued growth and success at the regional and national levels.”
The conference will also name UMAC All-Decade teams in each sport. Individuals will be nominated by institutions and selected by a committee. Announcements will be released on Thursdays during corresponding sports seasons. Each All-Decade Team will include players and one coach, and a Team of the Decade – recognizing the best team from the UMAC during the 10-year span – will also be chosen in each sport.
In March 2019, the UMAC will honor individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the UMAC and have helped progress the conference in its first 10 years of Division III membership with the UMAC 10 Years of Service Awards. Individuals will be recognized at a banquet held in conjunction with the conference’s governance meetings at Martin Luther College.
