MVL 87, St. Mary’s 52

NEW ULM– Minnesota Valley Lutheran (16-7) defeated Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s (0-20) in Tomahawk Conference boys’ basketball action Tuesday night.

Dalton Meyer and Blake Steffensmeier led the Knights with 11 points each. Meyer had four rebounds, Steffensmeier had four assists and Collin Ludewig had 8 points with nine rebounds.

MVL’s Jake Kettner led with 16 points, six rebounds and seven assists. Mason Cox tallied 14 points with five rebounds, Jace Marotz ended with 13 points and Matt Munsen had 10 points.

The Knights will be on the road at 7:30 p.m. on Friday against Cedar Mountain/Comfrey in Comfrey. MVL will host Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Springfield 60, RRC 52

SPRINGFIELD — Springfield defeated Red Rock Central 60-52 on Tuesday in a nonconference boys’ basketball game.

Springfield was led by Tanner Vogel, who scored 23 points. Also for Springfield, Decker Scheffler scored 13 points and Mitchell Buerkle scored 10 points.

Red Rock Central’s leading scorers were Spencer Halland with 26 points and Brady Rasmussen with 10 points.

Springfield (21-1) plays at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at Sleepy Eye. RRC hosts Mountain Lake Area at 6 p.m. on Friday.

Wabasso 69, BLHS, 59

WABASSO– Wabasso (3-18) defeated Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart (6-15) in a Tomahawk Conference battle Tuesday night.

Tony Franta led Wabasso with 21 points and eight rebounds, Myles Zeug ended with 15 points, Colton Taylor had 12 points and Cooper Taylor tallied 11 points with five assists.

BLHS will host Lester Prairie/ Holy Trinity at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Wabasso will host GFW at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.

Cathedral 70, CM/C 65

MORGAN– New Ulm Cathedral defeated Cedar Mountain/Comfrey in a boy’s Tomahawk Conference basketball match up Tuesday night.

CM/C was led by Dylan Hillesheim with 21 points and eight rebounds, Eli Samuelson and Trey Peterson-Juhl each ended with 14 points and Lewis Pendleton had eight assists.

No stats given for Cathedral.

CM/C will host New Ulm at 7:30 on Thursday in Morgan.

Cathedral will host BLHS at 7:30 on Friday.

Sleepy Eye 57, GFW 46

WINTHROP– Sleepy Eye (10-13) defeated Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop (6-15) in Tomahawk Conference boys basketball action Tuesday night.

Martin Ortiz led GFW with 17 points and Ryan Albrecht had 9 points.

Sleepy Eye’s Zach Haala led with 16 points, Kegan Heiderscheidt netted 10 points and Nathan Walter ended with 9 points.

GFW will travel at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday to Minnesota Valley Lutheran. Sleepy Eye will host Springfield at 7:30 on Friday.

St. James 45, Madelia 34

MADELIA — St. James defeated Madelia 45-34 on Tuesday in a nonconfrence girls’ basketball game.

St. James was led by Chloe Michelson and Kayla Hanson, who both scored 11 points.

Madelia’s leading scorer was Thejen Luoth, who had 12 points and four rebounds. Also for Madelia, Cortney DeVlaminck had 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Madelia hosts Glenville-Emmons at 6 p.m. on Friday.

Sleepy Eye 57, GFW 34

SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye defeated Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 57-34 on Tuesday in a Tomahawk Conference girls’ basketball game.

Sleepy Eye was led by Madi Heiderschiedt, who had 23 points, five assists and five rebounds. Also for Sleepy Eye, Brianna Polesky had 13 points and 12 rebounds and Mya Ibberson had 9 points and five blocks.

GFW’s leading scorers were Emily Heimkes and Maddy Elder, who both scored 12 points.

Sleepy Eye (19-4, 13-2) play at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at Springfield. GFW (13-12, 9-6) hosts Minnesota Valley Lutheran at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Wabasso 68, BLHS 25

WABASSO — Wabasso defeated Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart 68-25 on Tuesday in a Tomahawk Conference girls’ basketball game.

Wabasso’s leading scorers were Jenna Frank, who scored 21 points and Maddy Guetter, who scored 14 points.

BLHS was led by Teagan Hansen, who scored 8 points.

Wabasso (18-3, 13-2) hosts Minnesota Valley Lutheran at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. BLHS hosts Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
