Sleepy Eye boys hold off Nicollet 62-59

Sleepy Eye 62, Nicollet 59

NICOLLET — Sleepy Eye defeated Nicollet in a nonconference boys’ basketball game on Monday.

Riley Hulke led Nicollet with 25 points and five assists. Ben Bode and Dustin Bode each had 10 points for the Raiders.

Sleepy Eye did not submit any statistics.

Nicollet hosts Alden-Conger on Thursday.

MVL 70, Wabasso 34

WABASSO — Minnesota Valley Lutheran defeated Wabasso on Monday in a Tomahawk Conference boys’ basketball game.

Jake Kettner led all scorers with 20 points. Matthew Munsen, Jordan Fischer and Jace Marotz added 9 points apiece.

Cooper Taylor and Tony Franta each scored 7 points for Wabasso.

MVL (5-1, 3-0) will play at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 27 against Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial at Bethany Lutheran College.

Wabasso (0-4, 0-3) will play at Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s (0-6, 0-3) on Tuesday.

Girls’ basketball

Sleepy Eye 54, Nicollet 47

NICOLLET — Sleepy Eye defeated Nicollet on Monday in a nonconference girls’ basketball game.

Grace Dehen led Nicollet with 23 points on seven 3-point shots and Kaitlyn Frutiger had 10 points.

Madi Heiderscheidt scored 22 points and four assists for the Indians. Mya Ibberson added 7 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks and Brianna Polesky added 9 points.

Nicollet (5-3, 2-0) will host Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial on Tuesday. Sleepy Eye (7-2, 3-1) will travel to Goodhue to face Lester Prairie-Holy Trinity at 5 p.m. on Dec. 27 in the Goodhue Invitational Tournament.
