Heiderscheidt leads Indians past Bulldogs

SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye defeated Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton 80-37 in nonconference girls’ basketball on Friday at the St. Mary’s Invitational.

Madi Heiderscheidt had 24 points and seven steals for the Indians. She is now 3 points away from 1,000 for her career. Sarah Ibarra had 20 points and eight steals and McKenzie Cselovzski had 14 points and five rebounds.

Sleepy Eye plays at 3:45 p.m. Saturday against New Century Academy.

JWP plays at 2 p.m. Saturday against St. Mary’s.

SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s defeated New Century Academy in the St. Mary’s Invitational on Friday.

St. Mary’s led 61-2 at halftime.

Eighth-grader Madison Mathiowetz led the Knights with 16 points and four steals. Mal Helget had 12 points and Megan Ahlness had 10 points. Sydney Windschitl had 10 points and four rebounds.
