MLC volleyball team picks up 2 UMAC victories

ASHLAND — The Martin Luther College volleyball team swept its UMAC triangular at Northland College on Saturdy with 3-0 win over Northland and North Central.

MLC 3, Northland 0

The Knights opened the day with a 3-0 sweep of Northland by the scores of 25-19, 25-17 and 25-12.

MLC finished with a .307 attack percentage for the match and was charged with only two errors in the final two games as they cruised to the three-set win.

Kira Grev led the way for the Knights with a team-best 10 kills while hitting .276. Jade St. Germaine added six kills, while Rylee Weisensel, Moriah Hackbarth, Grace Schultz, Kati Aguilar, Jenna Miller and Ruth Buchholz all recorded at least three kills.

Taylor Weber led MLC with 23 digs, while Weisensel finished with three blocks.

MLC 3, NCU 0

MLC completed the Saturday sweep with a 3-0 win over North Central by the scores of 25-22, 25-17 and 25-18.

Grev once again led the way with 11 kills and also added 11 digs. Weisensel finished with eight kills and hit .400 for the match to go with a team-best four service aces.

Weber once again had a match in the back row with 24 digs, while Hailey Stade led the team with 20 assists.

The Knights improved to 10-6 overall and 5-1 in UMAC play with the sweep. They will return to action on Monday, September 25, when they host St. Olaf in a non-conference match scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
