Eagles struggle against Blue Earth

BEA 3, New Ulm 0

BLUE EARTH — Blue Earth Area downed New Ulm 25-13, 25-18, 25-12 on Tuesday in a Big South Conference volleyball match.

Sarah Longtin led New Ulm with 10 digs. Izzie Wolkow added seven digs and seven set assists. Ashlyn Donner and Madeline Gag each had three kills.

New Ulm ( 0-6) will host St. James Area on Thursday.

Maple River 3, MVL 0

MAPLETON — Maple River defeated Minnesota Valley Lutheran 25-19, 25-17, 25-23 on Tuesday in a nonconference volleyball match.

Lauren Paulsen had 14 digs and nine kills for MVL. Mara Weisensel added nine kills, Maddie Pearson had 12 set assists and Haley Birkholz added four kills with 15 digs.

MVL (2-3, 0-1) will host Wabasso (8-1, 2-0) on Thursday.

Wabasso 3, BLHS 0

HECTOR — Wabasso swept Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart 25-11, 25-15, 25-18 on Tuesday in a Tomahawk Conference volleyball meet.

Maddy Guetter had 22 kills, Jenna Frank added 28 set assists and McKenna Nelson had eight digs for the Rabbits.

Wabasso (8-1, 2-0) will travel to Minnesota Valley Lutheran (2-3, 0-1) on Thursday.

Fulda 3, Springfield 0

FULDA — Fulda defeated Springfield 25-16, 25-15, 25-14 on Tuesday in a nonconference volleyball match.

Arynzi Rabb had 10 set assists and 16 digs. Brittany Rogotzke added 21 digs and LaCole Weisensel had seven kills.

Springfield (0-9, 0-1) will host Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop (2-5,. 0-1) on Thursday.

CM/C 3, RRC 0

LAMBERTON — Cedar Mountain/Comfrey swept Red Rock Central 25-22, 25-16, 26-24 on Tuesday in nonconference volleyball action.

Makenzie Kerkhollf led with 14 kills and 14 digs. Abby Jemmings had 35 set assists and 13 digs. Jordan Kevelin added 11 digs and Kylie Wersal had 20 digs.

CM/C (3-1, 2-0) will travel to Sleepy Eye (2-5, 1-4) on Thursday. RRC (1-4, 0-1) will host Edgerton on Thursday.

Nicollet 3, Madelia 1

MADELIA — Nicollet defeated Madelia 25-17, 23-25, 25-18, 25-23 on Tuesday in a Valley Conference volleyball match.

Lizzie Cooling led Madelia with 34 set assists, 30 digs and two kills. Estefany Sotelo added 19 digs and Jada DeLaCruz had 12 digs.

Madelia (4-6, 1-1) will travel to Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley/East Chain/Truman on Sept. 19. Nicollet (1-4, 1-4) will play at St. Clair on Thursday.

Girls’ tennis

St. Peter 7, New Ulm 2

ST. PETER — St. Peter defeated New Ulm in a Big South Conference tennis match on Tuesday.

Emma Maudal was unable to compete at No. 1 singles due to an injury. Sara Guyman lost 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, Abby Heitala lost 6-1, 6-1 at No 3 singles and Makiah Otto lost 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4 singles.

Jane Arnoldt and Abbey Frauenholtz lost at No. 1 doubles 6-1, 6-0. Breanna Widmer and Shelby Haseman won at No 2 doubles 6-4, 7-6 (7-5). Kaila Brudelie and Bethany Janssen won 6-4, 6-4 at No 3 doubles.

New Ulm (3-4) will host Fairmont on Thursday.
